Five Seconds of Freshie Interviews

Nancy Shi, ‘22 and Jayna Rohslau, ‘22

November 2019

What do the freshmen think of BHSEC so far?  What do they think the meaning of life is? Investigative reporters Shi and Rohslau are out to confront this elusive species in its natural habitat. Perhaps, they will discover the secrets behind Professor Agredo’s perfectly done hair, or uncover the mystery behind the magnetic properties that freshmen suddenly acquire when they’re on the fifth floor, causing them to cluster in mobs.  More likely, they’ll just freak the poor kids out.

Luke Malstrom, ‘23

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep so far?

A day and a half.

What’s your favorite class?

Definitely physics, because I have Zitolo.

Have you joined any clubs yet?

No, I haven’t yet.  But I’m looking forward to joining some later, or maybe next year.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

It had to be the egg.

Ardit Xhambazi, ‘23

How do you get to school every day?

I take the train, and I walk.

(upon further interrogation, the victim revealed he takes the F train)

Hardest lesson you’ve ever learned?

Not really anything I guess, Bard has been pretty easy for me.

Are you a “glass half full” or “glass half empty” type of person?

It depends on my mood, but usually half full.

Miki Chen, ‘23

Any weird talent(s)?

No.

Favorite part about Bard?

How diverse Bard is.

Top 3 Pet Peeves?

  1. Screechy noises.

  2. People who ask teachers if there’s any homework

  3. People who brag about a good grade they get when they know you didn’t get a good grade.

Sabikun Sinin, ‘23

Is there anything you wish you had known about BHSEC before getting here?

I wish I had learned geometry and Latin because I’m struggling with these a lot.

Least favorite class and why?

I don’t have a least favorite subject because I like them all.  Latin is my lowest grade but I like it.

What’s your opinion on older grades?

(The authors would like to note that they are unbiased, although they do have a special place in their hearts for the tenth grade.  But definitely unbiased.)

They are quite cool.  They are extremely helpful when you need them.  They are probably the biggest help other than the teachers.

What’s one secret you refuse to share?

Hmmm.... to be honest, I don’t know.  There is nothing that I have to hide.

Oskar Lieberman, ‘23

Which would you rather do: physics lab report, literature essay, or Americas essay, and why?

Probably a lit essay, because we already spend a lot of time in class discussing whatever we are reading, so all the ideas are already there, and just have to be put on the paper.

Do you have any goals for your time at BHSEC?

While I’m at Bard I would like to continue to get better at studying because I’m really, really bad at it.

Do you think BHSEC could beat BHSECQ in a fight to the death?

Yes, we would beat them in a fight to the death (Needs no explanation).

If you inherit five million dollars the same day aliens tell the earth they’re blowing us up in two days, what would you do?

If I had 5 million dollars before the earth ended I would try to escalate tensions between the US and Russia, creating a World War III before we all died, because it would be a much more interesting ending.
