Creed II:

Creed II is the 8th installment in the “Rocky” series. The first Creed movie was very promising. Although it went with the traditional “rocky formula” (protagonist wants to be trained, doesn’t get trained, gets trained, etc), it was still a great watch. With that in mind, audiences hoped that Creed II would be a good movie. When its first trailer came out, something was blatantly obvious — Creed II was going to be different. After the first Rocky, the Rocky movies just kept on getting “sillier and sillier”. Unlike the previous films, Creed II had a very serious tone. It’s a different story, and Michael B. Jordan’s acting definitely contributed to that. I think that this is the first Rocky movie where I’ve actually felt for both sides. There’s really “meat on the bone” when it comes to the characters in this film. Back in Rocky IV, main antagonist Ivan Drago was seen as a cold hearted fighter who ruthlessly beat down Apollo Creed. Most audience members felt no remorse for him when he lost his fight with Rocky Balboa. In this movie, however, part of me wanted Viktor Drago and Ivan Drago to win the match. After Ivan’s loss, his wife left him, and he was shamed by his country. Ivan Drago and Viktor Drago aren’t just “antagonists”, they’re people too, and if you see the movie, you’ll get a chance to really see their side of the story. At the end of the day, you’re going to enjoy watching this movie, as it will definitely keep you on the edge of the seat the entire time.
