Why You Don’t, But Should, Read The Bardvark

At BHSEC, there is pretty much an open secret that almost no one reads the Bardvark, and I didn’t know why. So, I decided to investigate and I asked students “Why don’t you read the Bardvark?” There were many answers, but the most common by far was that they never got a hold of the Bardvark. This shocked me, but then I realized not everyone lived in the library during their frees like I do. So, it became clear that the majority of people who read the Bardvark are confined to the library. If you are reading this, chances are you picked it up in the library. Congrats! You are reading one of the school’s most prominent publications.
I’m going to get real with you for a second. Before Year 1, I barely ever read the Bardvark. But, this year I’ve been keeping up with it, because I have sought it out and have found the articles to be interesting. Regardless, it is something that I’ve become accustomed to reading, picking one up at the beginning of every month.
Moreover, people found the content not to be intriguing enough to read. To this, I have one thing to say: come write for the Bardvark! It is purely a compilation of student work, so if you think that the content isn’t interesting, please come and write for us. I don’t mean this in a condescending way, I’m being completely sincere right now. The current Bardvark features many different types of sections: comics, music reviews, politics, school news, world news, school events, movie reviews and even opinion pieces. Therefore, there is a large variety of topics that are explored in the Bardvark.
Finally, if you’re still reading this, I hope that you continue to read something that catches your eye in the rest of this issue. The school news paper is not printed every month to kill more trees, it’s printed for BHSEC. We hope that you’ll continue to read not only this issue but the subsequent ones as well. Also, if you’d like to join this amazing club and write something for the Bardvark, we meet the first Wednesday of every month, or you can email us at bardvark@gmail.com.
