Kara Goldstein is an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) teacher who works specifically with the 9th grade, which means that she assists students with learning disabilities who are educated in the general education classroom. Along with her two sisters, she was born and raised in Rockland County, New York. In 2010, she entered Tufts University, double majoring in international relations and political science while minoring in Italian.

In her sophomore year, Ms. Goldstein interned at Herzfeld & Rubin, P.C, a full service international law firm based in New York City. Despite her political interests, education had always been a passion of hers. After her junior year, she took an internship at She’s The First, a New York based nonprofit organization that sponsors education for girls around the world. It was after this internship that she realized the full extent of educational inequality in our nation and around the world. Shortly after, she was offered a position at Teachers of America, which she eagerly accepted. Ms. Goldstein worked with them for over two years. During her time with Teachers of America, Ms. Goldstein was an educator at New Visions Charter School, where she co-taught a 12th grade Government Civics class and a 9th grade Global History Class. In August of 2016, she was offered a position here at BHSEC.

Ms. Goldstein enjoys winter sports, from skiing to ice skating to just playing in the snow. In fact, she was a downhill ski racer throughout her high school and college careers. Additionally, her father wanted her to love football as much as he does, and as a result, she has become a “die hard New York Jets fan.” Her love of sports is equated by her love of teaching. Her favorite part of working with 9th graders here at BHSEC is that she is able to support them through their quest to navigate the often difficult nature of BHSEC.  Ms. Goldstein is surprised at how passionate, active and driven the students here are, saying that she is able to “learn as much from them as they, hopefully, are able to learn from” her. BHSEC is happy to have Ms. Goldstein here to provide her services.
